Rotary Steerable Systems

The center piece of our product and service offering is a unique fully rotating, point-the-bit Rotary Steerable System (RSS). The turbine-powered, all mechanical drive train, combined with a short bit-to-bend design and industry leading steering control algorithms, delivers 3D wellbore trajectory control with minimal tortuosity. The RSS is compatible with a majority of 3rd party BHA equipment.

What is a rotary steerable system (RSS)?

Used in directional drilling, this technology replaces conventional directional tools such as mud motors. Programmed by the MWD engineer or directional driller who transmits commands using surface equipment. Pressure fluctuations in the mud column or variations in the drill string are able to control bit direction. The tool drills directionally with continuous rotatin from the surface, eliminating the need to “slide” a mud motor.
